The Sisters Of Mercy – First And Last And Always (MOFI)

Sisters of Mercy's 1985 album was to become the benchmark against which all later gothic rock albums would be measured. The dark psychedelic rock sound, accompanied by Andrew Eldritch's sepulchral voice and a drum machine that took on an eerie life of its own, set the style for a whole generation of gothic rock bands and is still part of the standard repertoire of every gothic party. The band, on the other hand, did not benefit from the album's success and broke up soon after its release.
