- The pianist Dave Brubeck, born in 1920, is an American jazz legend. In the early 50s he founded the Dave Brubeck Quartet in California, with which he soon became an insider tip in the jazz scene of the Sunshine State. In 1961, Brubeck succeeded in reaching the upper echelons of the pop charts with the piece "Take Five", composed by his saxophonist. The song, played in 5/4 time, was the first jazz record to sell more than one million records. "Take Five" originated from the album "Time Out", which was released in 1959 and with which Brubeck presented one of the definitive milestones of jazz.
