Idris Muhammad is considered the Drumming King of Groove. Power of Soul is probably his best-known album, on which other music virtuosos such as Bob James, Grover Washington, Jr., Joe Beck, Randy Brecker and Ralph MacDonald also participated.
This exceptional work was produced in 1974 by Creed Taylor. The track Loran's Dance achieved considerable airplay at various big jazz radio stations and was even sampled by Beastie Boys and Fatboy Slim for use in several tracks.
Elements from Power Of Soul were used in works by Notorious BIG (Ready To Die) and The Game feat. Anderson Paak (80s and Cocaine).
