The Sérgio Mendes Trio – Bossa Nova York

This release presents the complete original album Bossa Nova York, recorded in the USA. It features Mendes' trio along with his mentor Antônio Carlos Jobim on guitar and American jazz musicians Art Farmer, Phil Woods, and Hubert Laws.

The LP was released in the USA as The Swinger from Rio. A central figure in the fusion of jazz and bossa nova, pianist and composer Sérgio Mendes (1941–2024) recorded over 55 releases under his own name. He was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2012 for "Real in Rio" from the animated film Rio.
